Walldorn Session 2 - Escape from Hilltop

Apologies for the long gap, have been pretty busy this year with hobby stuff including D&D. In fact the group has had two more sessions since I last updated, so I better get them up while i can still remember them.

Walldorn Session 1

While it's taken longer than I intended to actually post this, I'v had this session summary written up for a good while. I had some vague notion of posting pictures of each characters mini before posting this first session, but It's taken longer than I thought to get them all painted so I thought I should actually post something to the old blog. The character mini's will be posted as soon as they're finished. This summary assumes the viewer has read the character introductions previously posted.

Walldorn Characters

Strange events are about to occur In the nation of Walldorn.
Amongst this chaos, four men from the village of Hilltop may find
themselves lost in the tides of madness, or perhaps the regions
only hope.

Walldorn Campaign Setting

I think it's every Dungeon Masters dream to create their own homebrew setting. Also common is the DM with a setting he continues to add notes for, but never feels ready to unveil for his group. Such has been the case with me, but no more! I have officially unleashed the setting I've been  intermittently working on for at least 5 years upon my players. But before we talk about the game, I should give an idea of my world and the tone I'm going for.

As such I'll post from the players guide I gave to the players during character creation.

Further Update

Oh hey! This thing! Remember? no? yeah...

Essentially, I started this blog back in the dark ages as a way to document my hobby activities, particularly regarding pen and paper role playing games. Since then I basically forgot about it, until very recently of course.

At this point I've actually got lots going re rpgs and other hobbies, so It's the perfect time to start this thing up again. So without further ado, why don't i summarise where i am regarding nerd stuff?

Regarding rpgs, I've been won over from Pathfinder by the 5th Edition of Dungeons and Dragons streamlined and old school approach. I have already run a campaign up to 5th level, and am starting a new one In my homebrew setting, which I'll probably be talking about a lot on this page. I'm also still a big fan of Warhammer fantasy roleplay's first and second editions, and will doubtless come back to the old worlde in the future.

Speaking of Warhammer, you might surmise from what little I've written on this blog that I'm quite fond of the old world and it's lore. So like a lot of people, I wasn't exactly pleased with the super sexy reboot Warhammer got in the form of Age of Sigmar. I own a reasonably large collection of Goblins, and I thought they would be relegated to occasionally being brought out for a nostalgic game of 8th Edition, until I started getting into Kings of War. It plays like the kind of rank and file game I remember warhammer being before it started to become more decadent (although still fun). It also helps that they don't care what model range you use, so my goblins needn't be relegated to boxes under the bed. My brother over at his blog, has also embraced the Mantic spirit, and converted his Skaven to Ratkin. He tends to beat me a bunch, but we plan on doing a narrative campaign, which will doubtless lead to some battle reports on our blogs. I am tempted to only post them when I win :-p

So expect some roleplaying content, painted miniatures and general gaming goodness.

Assuming I don't forget about this again.

Hypnotic Constricter

I've had this little toy since I can remember.

On the dresser of Doom! (sorry about the blurring ).
Since getting into fantasy rpg's I've been wanting to use this as some kind of monster in a game.
So, with the recent purchase of the Tome of Corruption for WFRP 2E I decided to stat it as a daemon of Slaanesh. Shouldn't it be Tzeentch if it's blue? Well I'm working on a Slaanesh cult right now so there. Besides Slaanesh has a thing for serpents.

Hypnotic Constricter

Ws Bs  S  T  Ag Int Wp Fel
 40   0  36 41 42  41 48  31
            3   4 (6)

Skills: Dodge Blow, Perception, Intimidate +20, Charm, Torture +20, Silent Move, Concealment,

Talents: Daemonic Aura, Night Vision, Will of Iron, Natural Weapons, Strike Mighty Blow, Wrestling,

Special Rules;

Mutations: Bizarre Colouration (Blue), Bestial Appearance (Snake, bite is poisonous. If it deals damage the victim must pass a toughness test or take an additional Damage 1 hit), Hideous Appearance (Terrifying), Scaly Skin (1 AP on all locations).

Hypnotic: The Hypnotic Constricter has the ability to hypnotise it's prey into a paralytic state. Victims of this ability must succeed in an opposed willpower test with the Daemon in order to escape this ability. If the constricter wins, than the victim is unable to take any actions while eye contact with the creature is maintained. If the Constricter is damaged or distracted in some way, than the victim may act as usual, though with a -10 to all tests for 1 round.

Instability: As every other Daemon.

Combat;

A - 2 W - 15 M - 4 Mag - 0

Offense: Bite (d10+4 + poison, see mutations)

Armour: Head - 1 Arms- 1 Body - 1 Legs - 1

Slaughter Margin: I'm gonna go with Hard.

This giant serpent like Daemon has two clawed hands and mane of greasy hair above it's monstrous head.
Whilst they are formidable when faced on the battlefield, they are mostly found in daemonic torture chambers where they Delight in causing pain and suffering, or hunting for prey in the chaos wastes with they're hypnotic stare. Occasionally, a cultist of Slaanesh will summon a Constricter, as an interrogator, assassin, or both. This rarely goes well for the summoner, who often finds out the hard way how hypnotic the constricter's stare is.

Update

Geese its been a while since I was here last. So anyway I think it's time for an update.

To start with I am currently running an intermittent WFRP (2nd Ed) game. Most of the players are family members (I know, never play RPG's with your parents..) which has been going pretty well all things considered. As that's what I'v been Gming recently, It's what Iv been making content for so I'l probably have some stuff to post for those rules.

Iv also been gaming on the other side of the screen as a player in a pathfinder game. The group is quite small, consisting of one other player and the gm, but its been fun so far. The GM is running the Serpents Skull campaign for those who are interested.

Iv also been doing some Warhammer, including losing to my brother at 40k. I did wonder why he was taking pictures...
